Fattoria il Casalone is a family business owned by the Lignana family. Since 1960, the company has been working in the name of craftsmanship and eco-sustainability.

Agricultural Activities
VITICULTURE
Among the agricultural activities undertaken by the company, viticulture for the production of its own DOC Maremma Toscana wines with the PEPI LIGNANA label deserves particular attention.
In these places the cultivation of vines dates back to ancient times and the Leopoldino Land Registry of the early 1800s already indicated the Colombi and Cucchetto vineyards, hence the name of the wines.
Fattoria il Casalone already at the beginning of the 60s, relying on good agronomists and oenologists (Federico Curtaz, Stefano Bartolomei, Paolo Caciorgna), was among the first to experiment with Cabernet Sauvignon and Vermentino, very interesting results due to the proximity of the sea.
To improve quality on the basis of the experience gained, the company has replanted new vineyards for about 12 hectares with these clones, integrating them with Petit Verdot and Viognier. In 2014 the company completed the construction of the new cellar.
The excellent quality of the wines produced is constantly appreciated and rewarded by authoritative professionals in the sector.

OLIVE GROWING
From the olive groves of the estate, the company produces a fine Tuscan IGP Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Maremma is famous for its fine extra virgin olive oil with very low acidity values, that of our land, thanks to the proximity of the sea, adds the peculiarity of being sweeter than those of the Tuscan hinterland.
Our oil is rigorously cold pressed immediately after harvesting.
The olive groves of the estate are made up of Olive's plants like Leccino, Pendolino and Moraiolo.

Breeding activities
THE MAREMMAN CATTLE
In addition to the indigenous fauna mainly represented by wild boars, fallow deer, hares, foxes, stone martens, badgers, weasels and skunks, there is a wild breeding of Maremma cows on the estate.
The precious Maremmana bovine breed has an ancient origin known since the times of the Etruscans, raised in the pastures that extend between lower Tuscany and upper Lazio, close to the Grosseto and Viterbo coast in the heart of the Maremma. The Maremmana is considered a resistant breed and particularly suitable for living in the wild in its places of origin.
The Casalone farm in order to preserve the native breed of Maremma cattle, raises about 40 heads in the wild on 200 ha of pasture and woods where cows and calves graze freely.
Tourist Receptive Activities
THE FARMHOUSES
The Agritourism structure consists of 7 apartments built inside a Farmhouse, the apartments shared a garden and swimming pool.
The apartments are surrounded by fields and vineyards enjoy a beautiful view of the lagoon and Monte Argentario. Stays in the apartments are for a minimum of two nights.

Immersed in unspoiled nature and located within the estate, the company has several country houses of various sizes with gardens, swimming pool and sports fields. The Country Houses can be rented on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis.
WINE TOURISM
By contacting the company directly, it is possible to take a guided tour of the vineyards and the cellar, taste the DOC Tuscany Maremma Wines and the IPG Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced on the farm with combinations of local specialties at zero km and directly purchase wines and oil directly from the company.
